  • Amazing Race Season 20 Recap

Rach and Dave had a well deserved win. As much as I think Dave is a mean dude to his wife, this team has done the entire race fairly. I do not understand people crying out that Kentucky people should have gotten the money. Yes, I agree that they are nice people. I agree that they need the money. Do they deserve taking the 1 million dollar pot? No. They were eliminated from the race for taking too long at the Bollywood dance road block. This race is all about testing everything about the human body and working as a team. Be it physical, mental, emotional or psychological. The clowns got eliminated because he was weak with calculations. The jersey boys. Wow c'mon losing to a couple in a fast forward that requires physical strength to get the work done? Don't even get me started with how silly the asian girls were eliminated. The male twins lacked the patience to string up the harp. The cousins lacked teamwork in finding directions. The Feds just didn't have the physical strength to set up the tents as quickly as teams that had a male in it. Van and Ralph put their 110% in despite their bickerings. I was especially impressed at the part where she had a twisted ankle and she still managed to finish the "Bring the Chicken" home road block. Big brother team raced fair and square although they spent too much time arguing and crying. Kudos to Brendan for putting up with her nonsense attitude. Her character is definitely great for reality television but not for winning the race. Misreading the clue about going on foot cost them their lead. Border patrol agents just didn't have the agility to go down that sled without tumbling like a baffoon. Each team had their weaknesses and were hindered at the respective tasks.

To win in The Amazing Race
    1. Team work - The more time spent arguing means the more time wasted that could have been spent coming up with solutions to the problem.
    2. Luck - Finding the right cab driver is crucial (Knowing where you're going helps as well. If you don't know where you're going, do some research before you hop on the cab and decide to leave your fate to the cab driver)
    3. Be meticulous and pay attention when instructions are shown for each task. Examples are like the dumpling rolls and the watermelon pyramid. Taking your time to set up the base of the pyramid is crucial for stability. It is in fact, kind of a way to describe your relationship with your partner as well. Everything starts from the bottom. Not bothering to work the foundation is the recipe for failure at the end.
    4. READ THE DAMN CLUES - I cannot emphasize this enough. Especially when they say to go on FOOT.

  • Work

Hmm. I just got word that I'll be getting a pay raise. Somehow I'm not deriving my joy in work from the amount I get paid but from what i do at work. Although an increase in pocket money never hurts right? Heard from the manager that my team leader has been pushing for me to get a bigger increase than what has been given. Clearly my team leader just wants me to earn more so that I can lose the money to him on poker nights. Not to mention that he has been taking my lollies from my drawer and annoying me every other minute. Maybe it's because he's Irish. I remember when I first started working with him, he asked me if my dad's retared. I was like "Is my dad retarded?" He responded, "Re-TIRED". That's Irish accent for you. Needless to say, he has been a great mentor and a friend to talk to at work. (:

Oops. I think I better get back to work. Great - burnt 15 minutes of work time.

  • Life

Today, I saw a lady hammering the pedestrian crossing button for 10 seconds straight. She was pushing the button over and over again as though it would cause the traffic light to change faster. Impatience. Seems to be everyone's trait nowadays. I seem to experience it more on the roads. I would see people trying to squeeze their car across the lane even though it won't fit and end up blocking traffic. Or people not willing to give way to another car changing lanes. How about where lanes are so tight on a 2 way traffic that it would make sense for one car to stop and let the other side pass first. Of course neither car stops.

Do we want time to pass by so quickly? We always thank God it's Friday. Why don't we thank him for the Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays? The days that we exist. Wait, it's because of work. And it's because we need money that's why we work. Should we work because we love our job? Given we're living in this fast paced and ever changing environment, we have to adapt and accomodate. and end up doing something that we probably do not enjoy. I guess what I'm trying to say is we should be more patient. Thankful for the things we have and cherish every minute we breathe. Because after all we only have 80 years on this planet. :)

On a side note: Savage Chickens!
